- ClearCase Architecture
- An in-depth look at the ClearCase server processes and communication between them. A few scenarios of common operations are used to illustrate.
- Performance Concepts for ClearCase
- Covers how to evaluate ClearCase-related performance issues. Discussion of UNIX tools and ClearCase tools such as netstat, nfsstat, mvfstime, mvfstat and others.
Second day
- ClearCase Permissions on UNIX.
- An overview of UNIX permissions and an in-depth discussion of ClearCase permissions on UNIX.
- ClearCase Permissions on Windows NT
- An overview of Windows NT permissions followed by an in-depth discussion of ClearCase permissions on Windows NT.
- ClearCase Interoperation between UNIX and Windows
- Selected topics on ClearCase interoperability between UNIX and Windows NT are presented: sharing text files, NFS stacks, case sensitivity issues, etc.
Third day
- MultiSite Overview and Troubleshooting
- A rigorous review of the concepts in MultiSite with troubleshooting in mind. Emphasis is placed on understanding the mechanics and concepts of multisite. Hands-on work is used to reiterate and increase usage confidence.
Fourth day
- UCM Refresher Course – History of UCM
- New to Unified Change Management (UCM)? This introduction module will go over all the vocabulary, process flow & usage of UCM in shortbut-consistent way. See also over the history of UCM, how ClearCase was becoming a fully Software Configuration Management tool with process flow oriented checkin/checkout.
- UCM Change Flow
- Starting ClearCase v2002.05, UCM can get complex workflow: interstream delivering, inter-project deliveries. By putting policies, you can allow or disallow all this functionalities. See in this chapter all the scenarios possible, and why sometimes UCM is refusing to perform your desired action.
Fifth day
- UCM Objects and Internals
- Have you ever dream to understand why UCM is making all this ClearCase hyperlinks between the Project VOB (PVOB) and the Component VOB (CVOB)? Then this module is for you: opening step by step what is happening under the table when you create projects, stream and views associated, this chapter will show step by step all the secrets of UCM.
- SQUID Objects and Internals
- Afraid of the SQUID (SUM ClearQUest Integration Doodad) integration? Don’t be. By the end of this module, you’ll learn more than you ever wanted to know when you switch on ClearQuest enabled UCM projects.
